Studio Notes – materials, craftsmanship and design
“For me, the rug is the foundation of a room. At Chhatwal & Jonsson, we work exclusively with high-quality wool. The natural oils in wool make the rug naturally dirt-resistant, while also giving colours a depth that changes with the light in the room. We want the craftsmanship to be felt in every fibre.”

Styling with rugs – living room, bedroom and hallway
At Chhatwal & Jonsson, we combine traditional weaving techniques with a balanced and modern design language. Whether you are looking for a rug for your living room or a soft wool rug for the bedroom, each piece is carefully handwoven to create a dense surface with a natural sheen.
To create a harmonious interior, we recommend choosing a larger rug where the furniture sits partly on the rug. This helps define the space and creates a cohesive look.
Our colour palette is carefully selected to make it easy to combine rugs with different interiors. A handwoven wool rug is not only a decorative element – it also helps reduce noise and adds warmth to the room.
